Moment of madness in Qingdao leads to brawl

Yesterday’s match in Qingdao between Jonoon and Shanghai Shenxin was an exciting one, though it was overshadowed by a late brawl. Perhaps frustrated by his team having just went down after Liu Jian scored his second goal, Antonio Flavio took a violent kick at Qingdao defender Guo Liang’s legs. Zheng Long, who was next to Guo, took offense to this and pushed Flavio, who responded with a back handed punch to Zheng’s face.

This led to both sides’ benches being cleared as Flavio ran away from multiple Qingdao coaches and subs who chased after him throwing punches. The surreal incident was made all the more so when Flavio AND Zheng were both shown red cards. Check out the video below to watch the whole sordid incident.

  1. Zheng was the first one to make physical contact of aggressive nature. Flavio shouldn’t have thrown the punch, that was unsportsmanlike behavior not meant for the pitch. But then again, he didn’t start it. And the aftermath, him and two other Shenxin players got penalties. 8, 6 and 4 games… And Zheng only got 4… The refereeing of the whole match stunk of favoritism and possibly a bribe. Not to mention that two black payers got harsh penalties for defending themselves. There was no football on that day, at least not on any professional scale.
