CSL Round 4 Review: Attendance and all the Goals

Another week of derby matches didn’t fail to provide some excitement. In Shanghai, the cash cows played a boring match, with Tigana and Shenhua continuing to struggle. With four days of football to enjoy, Henan delivered a great match on Monday, winning their first match of the year. Big attendances in Beijing, Guiyang, Shanghai, and Nanjing made up for the weak attendances elsewhere, once again keeping the weekly average at around 20,000.

Beijing Guoan 3 – 1 Tianjin Teda
Attendance: 38,508

A great night in Beijing all around, the Jing-Jin derby lived up to expectations. To read more, go here.

Shanghai Shenhua 0 – 1 Guangzhou Evergrande
Attendance: 21,356

A fairly dull match, Evergrande came up with the winning goal off a Conca free kick that took a lucky bounce off a teammate for the win. To read more, check out our Shenhua fan’s match report.

Qingdao Jonoon 0 – 1 Shandong Luneng
Attendance: 12,136

Though Qingdao have done well in the Shandong derby over the past few months, this time around they put in a subpar performance as Shandong eeked out a victory. Here’s our full match report.

Dalian Aerbin 1 – 1 Liaoning Whowin
Attendance: 7,954

Korean defender Kim Yoo-Jin opened his scoring account once again in this Liaoning derby, albeit one without history, though Yu Dabao came up with a late equalizer.

Jiangsu Sainty 5 – 0 Dalian Shide
Attendance: 20,953

Jiangsu continue to impress this year, this time in front of a large crowd in Nanjing. If you’re looking for an early candidate for the ACL, it’s hard to look past this side.

Changchun Yatai 1 – 0 Shanghai Shenxin
Attendance: 10,552

Perhaps the cold conditions in Changchun kept both sides from coming out to play, but this was an incredibly boring match though Changchun managed an 82nd minute winner to take all three points.

Guangzhou Fuli 1 – 0 Hangzhou Greentown
Attendance: 5,332

Greentown got lucky once again when a clear goal wasn’t given, but unlike the week before, Hangzhou wasn’t able to get a goal. Instead, Davi scored an early second half goal to lead Fuli to victory.

Guizhou Renhe 1 – 2 Henan Construction
Attendance: 42,241

Once again it was a massive crowd in Guiyang on a holiday monday. Despite Guizhou getting on the board first, Henan came up with their first victory of the year o nthe back of two set piece goals from new import Christopher Katongo.
