Ha”Ah Lei”llelujah! Guoan youngster scores equalizer against Guizhou

Beijing Guoan 1-1 Guizhou Renhe
Chinese Super League Round 6
Lei Tenglong 52′; Jorda 49′
Attendance: 33,634

It was another highly entertaining football match and at the same time a disappointing failure to secure all three points for Beijing Guoan at Worker’s Stadium on Friday night.

With Zhou Ting suspended for four matches and an important ACL face off on Tuesday, manager Alexsandar Stanojevic made a number of changes to the starting lineup once again, this time choosing Andre Lima and Joffre Guerron to start up top. The pairing struggled to produce much of anything in the first half, an issue shared by the visitors as well. The best chance of the first half came just before the end of the half, a Zhang Chengling long ball found Rafa Jorda in the box, but Xu Yunlong got back just in time to block the shot.

Things changed quickly when the second half started, a Guoan corner kick was the impetus. Yang Hao made a good defensive play and Guizhou were quickly on the counter attack, in the end Zvjezdan Misimović played a good ball to Jorda who was cool in knocking it past Yang Zhi to shock the home fans and put Guizhou up one.

The goal served as a wakeup call for the Beijingers, who turned things around very quickly. A free kick from 28 meters out saw Zhang Xizhe come close to scoring, though the keeper made a great save. The impending corner kick saw youngster Lei Tenglong come charging through to score the equalizer. Lei hasn’t seen a lot of starting time this season but he was a worthy backup for Zhou on the night.

From there, Guoan put up continuous pressure on Guizhou and the match really opened up. Renhe didn’t just give up, Jorda should have gotten his second, though Yang was able to save his header and he couldn’t get a foot on the rebound that came back to him.

Guoan came extremely close to scoring twice, once the ball even went into the net, when Li Tixiang found Egor Krimets on a free kick, but the referee carded Li for taking the kick too fast. Moments later, Wang Xiaolong went on a mazy run through the Guizhou defense, though his shot hit the post and kept Beijing from a winner.

For the Beijingers, it was another disappointing result, coming away with only a point, though it was slightly better than their last match against Shanghai Shenxin. They remain undefeated in the 2013 season, but they need to start finding ways to come away with all three points instead of just one, especially when at home.
