Briefs hasn’t had much to offer you lately, but on this Monday, there seems just enough worthy of bringing you a new round of Briefs (without any news of transfers, what a relief!).
–China League one opened up its season yesterday, here are the attendance and results: Henan Construction 3-0 Guizhou Zhicheng (18,557), Shenzhen Ruby 2-1 Hubei Huakaier (5,781), Hunan Billows 1-1 Tianjin Songjiang (13,555), Guangdong Sunray Cave 2-1 Chengdu Blades (1,505), Chongqing Lifan 2-0 Shenyang Shenbei (4,608), Chongqing FC 0-1 Harbin Yiteng (3,262), Beijing Baxy 2-1 Yanbian FC (3,231), Shijiazhuang Smart Hero 1-2 B.I.T (20,000). The average attendance was 8,812.
–Interesting fact on CSL kits: Only one team (Guangzhou Evergrande), have a non-white change kit. Technically, Tianjin also does, though they wear white as their first choice kit.
–The CFA very quickly ruled that Joffre Guerron’s second yellow for diving was a mistake. The league has reprimanded referee Wang Did and plans on suspending him, but no word yet on whether Guerron’s suspension, which would see him miss an important match against Evergrande, will stand or not.
–In other red card news, Tianjin veteran Cao Yang showed a real lack of intelligence after scoring a beautiful equalizer in the dying minutes of his side’s match against Liaoning, he ripped off his kit top. Unfortunately, it was his second yellow and so he’ll miss the next match. Tianjin is slowly inching back to zero points after a match fixing penalty, they are now on -4 after two draws.
–Liu Jianye is the first to bow out of the national side. The Jiangsu veteran was injured during his side’s match against Evergrande over the weekend, though no announcement yet if Camacho will replace him. Perhaps one of the youngsters who were overlooked will get a chance after all.
–The CSL’s top scorers looks like this: Elkeson (Evergrande) – 5; Edu (Liaoning) – 3; Bruno Meneghel (Qindao) – 2; 26 other guys – 1; everyone else – 0.
The official attendance at the Hengda matchat the weekend was 39,996 and never seems to top 39,999. Tianhe stadium holds 58,500 yet at the match on Saturday it looked almost full (aside from the away fans section) There must have been at least 50,000 fans. What’s going on?
