Hernan Barcos was widely expected to join Changchun Yatai, but a strange turn of events has occurred and this is no longer the case.
The Argentina international, who has left Brazilian side Gremio, was reported to be moving back to the CSL with the North-East side. However, following a mystery about-turn, the former Shenhua striker instead agreed to a two-year deal with Tianjin TEDA.
Changchun’s replacement also comes from Gremio, Marcelo Moreno, a Bolivian international striker who scored 15 goals in 32 league games last season while on loan to Cruzeiro.
Moreno is younger than Barcos, being 27 years old, and has agreed to a two year deal with Changchun.
With 49 international caps and 12 international goals for the South American country, Changchun fans will be hoping that Moreno’s experience and goal-scoring abilities will help the team push itself back up the league table.
While failing to sign Barcos, who was the joint 2009 CSL top goal scorer, is a big disappointment for Changchun, they have still secured a player with a talent for scoring goals and will be looking for Moreno and Maazou to link up well in the 2015 season.
The 2015 season starts in just over a week, with Changchun heading to Shandong for the opening game of the season.
Season ticket prices are set at 400 RMB, 600 RMB or 800 RMB for Changchun, depending on the section you wish to sit in, and their new home shirt is available on Nike’s official website for 399 RMB without sponsors or numbers available.
Opening day is right around the corner and fans in the North-East city are excited to see what their beloved team can do throughout the year.
