With the national holiday coming up, it was an exciting weekend of Chinese Super League football as all the races continue to remain tight. At the top of the table, Evergrande needed a late winner to once again crush the hopes of Guoan fans, who were left celebrating a fourth straight win thanks to a Dejan Damjanovic hat trick. Shandong Luneng continue their move up the table as they battle for the final Asian Champions League spot, now sitting only three points behind Guangzhou R&F. At the bottom of the table, Harbin’s hopes are all but shot, while Henan, Shenxin, and Liaoning will battle to stay up as well.
Harbin Yiteng 0-1 Dalian Aerbin
It’s unfortunate, but we can pretty much declare Harbin relegated. This match was crucial for both clubs if they wanted to stay up, and despite those in the pub writing off Aerbin’s chances of staying alive, this win moves them into a much safer position
Shandong Luneng 2-0 Shanghai Shenhua
It was all Shandong as the home side dominated, Liu Binbin opened things up in the 8th minute and Aloisio added one more in the second half against a very unmotivated Shenhua side.
Jiangsu Sainty 0-2 Changchun Yatai
Both managers in this one were going up against their former sides and Okuka’s Changchun came out on top in this one thanks to a pair of goals from Fatos Bećiraj. The win moves Changchun up the table once again and with a seven point gap between themselves and relegation, it looks like they’ll stay alive.
Guangzhou R&F 3-4 Guangzhou Evergrande
A real thriller in Canton as Evergrande jumped out to a three goal first half lead only for R&F to fight back and even things up. However, Rene Junior delivered a killer blow in the 90th minute, giving Evergrande all three point. There was controversy yet again as another refereeing decision goes Evergrande’s way when a clearly onside Aaron Samuel scored in the first half only to be flagged offside.
Liaoning Whowin 1-3 Beijing Guoan
It was all Beijing in this one, and specifically, all Dejan Damjanovic, whose hat trick carried the Men in Green to this victory. Liaoning’s win streak was brought to an end, the home side only able to create a few opportunities but Yang Zhi always coming up big until a late consolation goal.
Guizhou Renhe 1-1 Shanghai East Asia
In the 3rd minute, Yang Yihu helped Guizhou get on the board and see East Asia continue their struggles, but thanks to R&F’s defeat and a Hysen equalizer off a Wu Lei rebound, only five points separate them from the final ACL position.
Tianjin Teda 1-1 Henan Jianye
A late equalizer granted Henan a point as they struggle to stay in the top flight in this very physical match that saw Jianye finish with 10 men.
