Wednesday night’s Chinese Super League encounter between Harbin Yiteng and Liaoning Whowin descended into chaos at half-time in the Harbin Sports City Center Stadium, with clashes between rival supporters in the stands.
The tension continued into the second-half, this time on the pitch, with Liaoning forward James Chamanga likely to face retrospective punishment for a kick out at Harbin captain Yan Xiangchuang. Winger Pu Xin was sent off minutes later for the hosts.
Per a Wild East Football contributor present at the game, the half-time incident occurred when security stepped in to separate a minor dispute between a handful of supporters, with the Harbin supporters required to bypass the away fans to reach toilet facilities. The incident prompted Harbin’s Blue Army to charge at their rivals, with objects being thrown at the fleeing Liaoning support and blows exchanged.
The incident also prompted dispute between some of the watching Liaoning substitutes and photographers on the track surrounding the pitch, with blows being traded by both sides.
With the majority of Harbin’s players hailing from nearby Liaoning province, the first-half of the bottom of the table clash had been a fairly friendly affair before the incident kicked off.
Given the extensive policing of away fans at many of the league’s bigger grounds, the incident will doubtless prompt investigation into security arrangements at the ground. Videos of the incident can be seen below.

The ground’s away end had the most lax security I’ve ever seen at an away end, almost begging for an incident. It kind of surprises me it’s taken this long for something to kick off.
