The curtain came down on the 2013 CSL season at the weekend with three teams still with something to play for going into the final round. As we have revealed elsewhere on , Qingdao completed a miserable second half of 2013 by getting relegated following a 1-0 defeat away to Beijing.
Changchun escaped the drop with a 1-0 win over Liaoning, whilst the other threatened side Sainty did just enough to avoid disaster after being last year’s runners-up with a scoreless draw at home to Shanghai East Asia.
At the other end of the table, Guizhou, still smarting from missing out on an automatic ACL place, were hammered 5-1 at home by this year’s runners-up Shandong, whilst champions Guangzhou Evergrande completed a league campaign which was emphatic for the home side as it was miserable for the relegated visitors as they destroyed Wuhan 5-0.
In the middle of the table, there were wins for two sides which were tipped by many to finish higher up the table this year – Guangzhou R&F and Dalian, whilst Shanghai Shenxin’s 2-1 victory over Tianjin ensured they finished the highest-ranked Shanghai side, thanks to Shenhua’s six point deduction.
