Attention was mostly focused on the bottom end of the table this week, with several at-risk sides in action as relegation matters start to approach their conclusion for 2013.
Up in Dongbei, the frustration continued for fans of Tianjin, as, following a 5-game winning streak which included victories over Evergrande, Beijing and Guizhou, they abruptly lost to a bottom 3 side for the second week in a row. Changchun’s 3-1 victory over Tianjin put them one point clear ahead of relegation rivals Qingdao, who themselves lost by the same scoreline to Evergrande.
The two other teams in the relegation mire, Jiangsu Sainty and Hangzhou Greentown, both grabbed valuable 1-1 draws against Shandong Luneng and Beijing Guoan respectively to put further pressure on Changchun and Qingdao. With just two rounds of the season remaining, the only other remaining game of note saw 4th-placed Guizhou crush Liaoning 4-2 to keep up the pressure on 3-rd placed Guoan for a guaranteed ACL spot. They now trail the capital side by one point. (See CSL table on the righthand panel.)
