Tianjin agree $2.5 million Andrezinho capture

Wild East Football understands that Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA have completed the signing of Botafogo attacking midfielder Andrezinho for a fee of US$2.5 million, subject to a medical examination.

Andrezinho, 29, will arrive in Hong Kong on Saturday, before travelling to Northern China on Monday to complete the transfer proceedings.

Known as Tavares during a previous spell in Korea with Pohang Steelers, Andrezinho was voted K-League MVP in 2007 as his side swept to a league title success. It is hoped that his previous success in Asia will help with a quick adaptation to the CSL this time around.

Since returning to Brazil, his success has continued as Internacional went on to win both major South American club competitions—the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.

The attacking midfielder, a former team-mate of Guangzhou Evergrande’s Elkeson, will now sign a two-year deal with TEDA worth a total of $3.5 million over the course of the deal.

Although uncapped for his country, Andrezinho is a World Cup winner at both Under-17 and Under-20 level, having represented Brazil at every level up to Under-23 category. A central playmaker, his long-range shooting and set-piece abilities should be of great benefit for a Tianjin side struggling to score goals.

It is thought that Tianjin are looking to make two foreign player changes this window, with the club also looking for a striker over the coming weeks.
