Iran defender Montazeri to join Aerbin in 2014 – report

According to reports in Iran, national team centre-back Pejman Montazeri has agreed a move to Chinese Super League side Dalian Aerbin for the 2014 season.

Montazeri, 29, currently plays for Asian Champions League quarterfinalists Esteghlal, and was part of the Iranian side that recently secured qualification to the 2014 World Cup, which will see him miss over a month of the 2014 CSL campaign.

While there has been no official confirmation of a deal having been struck, the reports are confident that a deal is already in place to see Montazeri replace New Zealand’s Daniel Mullen as Aerbin’s Asian player next season.

Since turning professional in 2004, Montazeri has won three league titles and two Iranian cups to cement a reputation as one of his country’s best central defenders. During that time, he has won 17 international caps for his country.
