Reports in Brazil on Tuesday suggest that Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Dario Conca is set to see out the remainder of his contract with the club, rather than seek a move this summer.
Conca, who recently turned 30, has previously twice sought to push for a return to former side Fluminense. However, on this occasion, his lawyer Marcos Motta insists that the Argentine has no interest in returning to Brazil.
“I have spoken with Conca, I spoke with him yesterday [Monday],” he told Super Radio Brasil. “He has a contract with Guangzhou Evergrande until the end of the year, and he intends to complete it.
“It is not in the interest of the player to return to Brazilian football, or any other market. His thoughts are, at present, to fulfil his contract.”
From June, the Argentine will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with any side ahead of the expiry of his current deal in December. Former side Fluminense, though, had hoped to bring him back to the club for the 2013 Brasileirão league campaign, but will now be forced to wait for his services.
It remains to be seen whether Conca, who was the Chinese Super League’s top assist maker in 2012, will be offered a new contract by Evergrande.
Having joined the club in 2011, the Argentine has gone on to play an increasingly important role in the side’s midfield and is considered integral to their hopes in this season’s Asian Champions League.
