Before the game, both East Asia and Whowin wanted to take a win in order to get rid of the predicament they are facing right now. East Asia just lost their battle in their first Derby and worse, their top player Wu Lei and core defender Li Yunqiu were suspended for this game. Whowin on the other hand had not tasted a win for several rounds and were eager to take three points away from Shanghai.

For the first 20 minutes, East Asia had the game under their control and Whowin was just playing in a conservative fashion. They did not create any proper chances and relied on the long ball to former Bundesliga player Edu, and to James Chamanga. But with that simple and crude style, a long ball forward saw Edu run into the box to hammer home the ball.
