Shanghai Shenhua 2013 Chinese Super League fixtures

Shanghai Shenhua’s finalized fixture list for the 2013 season has finally been published by the club, a mere week before the season kicks off.

In an ironic twist, the team starts its campaign on Saturday night in a “minus six-pointer” against Tianjin, the other side docked points this season following the conclusion of the CFA’s investigation into wrongdoings which took place a decade ago. It will prove to be a terse start to the season in a match which neither will want to lose.

The first of an unprecedented eight local derbies takes place in just the second weekend of the CSL calendar, when Shanghai Shenxin, who have moved home base yet again, welcome Shenhua across the river to Yuanshen Stadium in Pudong district. It’s not long till the next derby either – Shenhua make the short trip down the road to Hangzhou for a Yangtze Delta Derby  on April 7. The next version of this derby is on May 18 in Nanjing when Shenhua visit Jiangsu Sainty.  Meanwhile, April 28 marks Shenhua’s first competitive fixture against new rivals Shanghai East Asia, at Hongkou.

In other “rivalry” games, for the first time in years Shenhua’s trip to Beijing has not been scheduled in such a way as to make travel as inconvenient as possible for away fans. The boys in blue appear in Beijing’s home, Gongti , on the evening of Saturday September 28.
