takes a look at all the big Chinese sports news stories so you don’t have to. Sorry to have left you all without any CSL news during my extended holiday, but I’m back and ready to go with lots of news, perfect because things are really heating up in the transfer market with the official opening of the transfer window last week. Here’s a bit of the most recent goings on…
–Aerbin is continuing its transfer window brilliance by signing former French international and PSG standout Guillaume Hoarau. The 1.92 meters, 28 year old striker is yet another sign that this is a club to take seriously as title contenders in 2013 (pics of his arrival here). The club is also in talks to keep Peter Utaka in Aerbin blue for two more seasons.
–We mentioned a few weeks back Liaoning wanted to keep James Chamanga in the province and they’ve done so. The Shide legend joins Whowin and is likely to once again need to help a club stay up in the CSL. Here’s some pictures of his signing.
–Shandong Luneng is getting set to welcome new manager Radomir Antić. The Serb was previously with a number of clubs in Spain, including Real Zaragoza, Athletic Madrid, Celta Vigo, and even Barcelona for one season. His last position was with the Serbian national team, managing them through qualifying and at the World Cup in 2010, but he’s been out of work since then. The club has done everything they can to welcome their new manager, including the unusual sign welcoming him “home” that you see above.
–The club has also recently welcomed Ryan McGowan to Jinan. The 23 year old Australian international joins from Scotland’s Hearts and is certainly a quality pickup for Shandong. Here’s pics of him at his new club and signing the contract, no word on who the short bald guy with him is.
–Champions Evergrande have started their pre-season preprations and new signing Elkeson has arrived. Perhaps even more interesting after an offseason of bickering, Conca was at the training session.
–Surely Zlatan Muslimović was involved in recruiting his countryman, Zvjezdan Misimović, to Guizhou Renhe. Misimović, is a midfielder whose previous tours of duty include Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Galatasary and most recently Dynamo Moscow. The experienced, 30 year old is a solid pickup for the southwestern club.
–Shenhua retain their grasp on wtf moves, following up the signing of 31 year old Guoan midfielder Xu Liang by….signing 31 year old Guoan midfielder Wang Changqing. Guoan fans are sad to see Wang, a local Beijinger, go but more for non-football reasons as he’s never been a star on the pitch. Now they appear close to signing 40 year old (not a typo) Argentinian defender Rolando Schiavi of Boca Juniors. The club has just landed in Argentina for their winter practices and Schiavi is training with the team.
So Conca’s staying then?
At least for the time being, it appears that way.
Maronne (RB) from Melbourne Heart is heading over to Shanghai (Shenxin) – presumably to sign up…

Presumably “Shenxin” refers to Shenhua?

Anyone know when are the fixtures for the season coming out?
That’s a good question. MLS just came out with their schedule and they start a week before the CSL, yet the exact 16 teams in the CSL next season has yet to be decided. I’m guessing it will be out around Spring Festival (middle of next month), but just today I’ve seen the first week’s fixtures, so maybe we’ll have it sooner than I thought.
