CSL Round 30: Attendance, Hightlights, and all the goals

Last Saturday the last round of the 2012 season took place on pitches in rainy late autumn China when teams competed in CSL Round 30. A tumultuous week has since eclipsed a goal-rich and fine end to this year’s campaign. Dalian Shide enthusiasts sung an emotional farewell to their team continuing long after the matchin the meantime the northeastern club was purchased by the Aerbin group. Uncertainty is looming about which assets will be utilized further and merged with the new set-up. To say the Dalian club was an important part of China’s professional top division since its inauguration in the 1994 season would be an understatement –  the title was won by the Dongbei side  eight times.

It is probably worth your while to stay tuned for this week’s upcoming pubtalk which will most likely touch on this subject as well as featuring a pre-view of the upcoming first leg of the cup final between Guangzhou Evergrande and Guizhou Renhe.

Dalian Shide – Guizhou Renhe 0:3 (0:0)

Attendance: not available

The team from the capital of Guiyang Province is going into the two-legged cup final in fine form. This video is featuring the last ever goal scored during a Shide match (no complete match highlights were available). The 3:0 came off a skillful chip by Rafa Jorda, lobbing the ball over keeper Zhang Chong, while rushing towards goal during a counter-attack deep in stoppage time.

Beijing Guo’an – Guangzhou Evergrande 1:0 (0:0)

Attendance: 38,832

Pouring rain fell on players and muddied the pitch. An army of green and yellow faithful covered under rain coats and umbrellas greeted the only goal of this match ecstatically, it came in time-added on.

Tianjin Teda – Changchun Yatai 0:1 (0:1)

Attendance: 6,485

A small turn out witnessed Changchun Yatai taking all three points from Tianjin’s Teda Stadium, courtesy of a second half goal. The most northern club of the CSL from Jilin Province’s capital finishes an impressive campaign, landing just one place behind surprise team Aerbin, ending in sixth place.
Shanghai Shenhua – Qingdao Jonoon 3:0 (0:0)
Attendance: 8,236
Guangzhou R&F – Jiangsu Sainty 1:1 (0:1)
Attendance: 11,823
Shandong Luneng – Henan Jianye 2:0 (1:0)
Attendance: 21,021
A good number of fans turned out to see Jinan-based outfit Shandong Luneng – a CSL powerhouse and winner of four league titles, the last one stemming from 2010 – for a last time this year. Their below-par campaign performance ended on a conciliatory note. With the victory against already relegated Henan, they helped themselves to earn a mid-table finish.
Liaoning Whowin – Shanghai Shenxin 3:2 (1:0)
Attendance: 26,812
This video unfortunately does not feature the whole match, it contains only the winning goal of the game. Liaoning’s veteran midfielder Zhao Junzhe scored the decisive free kick in the 87th minute. This finally put out any remaining flickers of Shenxin’s hope to avoid relegation. While fellow Liaoning Province giants and neighbours over at the port city Dalian literally showed signs of getting dismantled, the Shenyang-based club and followers rallied firmly behind the team during this cold afternoon when more than 26,000 came to see their team managing to avoid relegation.
Hangzhou Greentown – Dalian Aerbin 1:2 (0:1)
Attendance: 10,782
The video only shows John Utaka’s winner for Aerbin scored after 55 minutes. Hangzhou finished their troubled campaign with a loss and the traveling team from Dalian managed to finish their first season in the CSL in a more than respectable 5th spot, within in the upper third of the division’s conclusive table. While R&F surprised and entertained many viewers during the first half of this year, it was fellow promoted team Aerbin that finished the 2012 season on a high.
