Dong Fangzhuouo, once of Manchester United fame, has been suspended for six matches after flicking off fans during a match in Beijing over the weekend, a match his club, Hunan Billows, drew 2-2 over Beijing Institute of Technology.
Over the years, Dong has had problems with his temper and it creeped up again in the capital. In the match, the referee had booked him for a somewhat soft yellow card, meaning that he’d have to sit out the next match for yellow card accumulation. Already angry, when he was subbed off and had to deal with taunts from the crowd, his anger boiled over and that’s when he gestured toward the fans.
Hunan is going to miss the striker, who has provided three goals during this year’s campaign. The club currently sit in the second promotion spot but have plenty of challengers chasing them. It wasn’t all negativity on the campus of BIT lately, on Tuesday Beijing Guoan fans came out to watch beloved former player Walter Martinez, now of Chongqing FC. The thankful Martinez even laid a kiss on one female fan.
