Another week in the books. Two scoreless draws in big matches this weekend led to some boredom. Results (and attendance) continues to dip in Guangzhou this season. Another impressive weekend for African MVP Christopher Katanga winning a tight match for Henan, and our co-Man of the Week, Yang Xu in Liaoning, whose brace led his side to victory. Most of all, R&F remain top of the table after a victory in Tianjin.
Henan Construction 2 – 1 Changchun Yatai
Attendance: 19,200
Changchun get on the board first, but once again its Katanga showing his class with another pair of goals to secure all three points for the home side. A dark spot after the game as once again there was fan violence, with the small contingent of Changchun away fans being attacked by the local Henan fans. When is security going to start doing their job in Zhengzhou?!?
Liaoning Whowin 2 – 0 Qingdao Jonoon
Attendance: 16,400

Shanghai Shenxin 3 – 1 Dalian Aerbin
Attendance: 4,000
Shenxin have produced some interesting results so far this year and this week was no different. The side we universally predicted to be going down now sits within striking distance of an ACL spot after putting up three on Aerbin. For their part, the visitors struggled in their first performance under the new manager.
Shandong Luneng 0 – 0 Jiangsu Sainty
Attendance: 25,300
We hyped this match a lot going into the weekend, unfortunately it didn’t deliver much on that hype as neither side could find a goal and both walk away with a point.
Hangzhou Greentown 1 – 1 Shanghai Shenhua
Attendance:20,100
Shenhua would get on the board first through a Nic Anelka goal, though Hangzhou quickly equalized and from then on it was a battle for a winner that never came. Read our Shenhua match report here and our Hangzhou match report here.
Tianjin Teda 1 – 2 Guangzhou R&F
Attendance: 11,500
Struggles continue in Tianjin as they go down to league leaders Fuli. After outplaying Fuli in the first half, Tianjin went down to a pair of quick second half goals and could only get one back as consolation.
Dalian Shide 0 – 0 Beijing Guoan
Attendance: 10,600

Guangzhou Evergrande 1 – 1 Guizhou Renhe
Attendance: 31,300
Guizhou certainly wasn’t intimidated by the champs, playing a solid match and getting on the board first, though Conca equalized with a penalty just before the half. Lee Jangsoo started the match with Conca on the bench, but frustrated with defender Paulão’s performance, he subbed him off for Conca in the 26th minute. Paulão showed his dissatisfaction with the move by punching (and breaking) the locker room’s glass window. As the rain picked up in Guangzhou, the pitch conditions quickly deteriorated, having a greater effect on the match.
