It was derby weekend in this round of the Chinese Super League – brand new inter-city rivalries in Guangzhou and Dalian, the regional Yangtze Delta Derby clash and of course the big one, the China Derby. This all added up to some cracking games and surprise results and one big shock. Also note Changchun Yatai’s game against Shandong Luneng was postponed due to snow.
Guangzhou Fuli 2-0 Guangzhou Evergrande

A shock result in the first-ever Guangzhou derby, Fuli hit Evergrande on the counter and held on to beat the reigning Chinese Super League champs who lost only two games all season last year. Read our full report.
Beijing Guoan 3-2 Shanghai Shenhua

Qingdao Jonoon 2-1 Tianjin Teda

A hard-fought game with an exciting conclusion, Qingdao winning it with a late penalty.
Henan Construction 0-4 Shanghai Shenxin

The other shocking result of the round – Shenxin thump Henan in Zhengzhou with four goals in the final half hour of the game.
Guizhou Renhe 1-1 Liaoning Whowin
Attendance: 33,220
Another big crowd for newly-relocated Guizhou but not as big as in their opening game. Both goals in this match come from set-pieces.
Jiangsu Sainty 3-0 Hangzhou Greentown

The first ever Dalian derby turns out to be a six goal thriller in a well-attended game where more were supporting Aerbin than expected.
Is there a drought going on in Dalian or something? That pitch could sure use some water.
From my experience (I studied one year in Dalian), there is always a drought. I have never been at a place whith so less rain (they have snow in winter, though).
But that they should water that field, that’s true.
