Anelka scores 40 seconds into first Shenhua appearance

Nicolas Anelka wasted no  time in opening his Shenhua account by scoring in the first minute of his first apperance as his new club beat Hunan Xiangtao 3-1 in a pre-season friendly.

The striker got on the end of Shenhua’s Chinese international fullback Wu Xi’s cross to open his account with a header against the Chinese second division team. Just 30 minutes later, Wu Xi was again the maker as his cross was met by Cao Yunding who make it 2-0 for Shenhua. Hunan pulled a goal back before Joel Griffthis scored his first goal for his new club with a close range header.

The match was played at Shenhua’s Cambridge training base in Pudong. Tickets for the game cost a whopping 500 RMB, but the proceeds were donated to charity. Fans posed with Anelka pitchside for pictures afterwards, with the Frenchman winning new friends with his willingness to satisfy every autograph hunter, noted the club’s official website.
