CSL Round 15 Weekend Wrapup (Midweek Edition)

Today it’s a midweek edition of this popular feature, and for the first time in awhile, I’m still buzzing as I write it. A couple interesting results last night, so let’s get to it (for my version of the “China Derby”, go here).

Guangzhou 4 – 0 Chengdu

Sina, you lied to me! Okay, actually it was my fault. When I checked the score around halftime, it was still 0-0, but I didn’t realize it was a 8 pm kick-off. Oh well. Guangzhou gives out yet another ho hum beating to a lesser side.

Liaoning 2 – 0 Tianjin

This was a match that was 0-0 at the half, but Liaoning scored two in the second half.  Liaoning’s now in 3rd place, 8 points off the pace, and yet nobody seems to be taking them seriously because they don’t really have any stars.

Qingdao 0 – 1 Shaanxi

Qu Bo returned to Qingdao and scored against his former club last night, he showed his class (and respect for the home fans) by not celebrating the goal.

Shenzhen 1 – 2 Changchun

Changchun managed to get a late winner to avoid the madness of 9 draws in 15 matches.

Henan 1 – 1 Shandong

A trip to Hanghai is not something to look forward, something both the Shandong players and fans (who also experienced some problems) found out. The visitors will be regretting heading back to Jinan with only a single point

Nanchang 0 – 1 Jiangsu

Jiangsu have decided they like winning, putting together a nice two game win streak for themselves, where’s our Nanjing correspondent when you need him?!? Perhaps he’s too used to supporting a loser to know what to do now that they’re winning?

Dalian 1 – 1 Hangzhou

After beating Shanghai, Hangzhou’s been on the skids as of late, with only 2 points in the last three matches.

Ha, I am a little surprised by how successful Jiangsu has been doing lately. Hopefully they keep the winning tradition alive and take down Beijing this weekend! Although I heard that the matches could be postponed this weekend because of the rumors regarding Jiang Zimin’s death..
