Hump Day Humor: Watch the Pint Sized Pitch Invader

When you’re supposed to be the authority on Chinese soccer, it doesn’t feel good to get pipped by the Huffington Post.  I’m sort of the Minister of Propoganda for the site and prefer to focus on the positive sides of the Chinese Super League so the first time I saw the photos on Saturday, I didn’t think much of it, these incidents aren’t that uncommon in China, definitely not worthy of a post.  When I saw video during a Chinese Super League highlights show, it was worth a chuckle watching the little fat kid chase after the referee and fail miserably.

China’s future Jimmy Jump looks to be around 12 and needs to lay off the KFC and McDonald’s if he wants to be more successful.  After failing to get at the referee and not listening to Li Weifeng, he was too slow to avoid the authorities, who violently tackled him.  What’s interesting is after he’s tackled, the players, in particular Da Tou (“Big Head”, Li Weifeng’s nickname), came over to defend the kid and protest the police’s violent tactics.

Fuck, it’s only Wednesday, we’re a long way from Sunday, hope this helps you get through the week.

  1. Excellent!

And good on the players for making sure the kid wasn’t roughed up too much.

However if this is the state of China’s youth then it looks like there won’t be any qualifications for the Olympics for a long time to come.
