A prominent Shanghai Shenhua fan who remains in a coma following a serious road accident was drunkenly riding a moped when the incident happened, according to Chinese media.
Last week, it was reported that Wu Zhao Ming was the victim of a hit and run accident in Hongkou district in northern Shanghai. But according to the Youth Daily newspaper, police revealed that after an investigation, Wu was in fact drunk and riding an unlicensed moped in a bicycle lane when he hit the kerb and collided with a street side circuit box.
With Wu still unconscious, Police have postponed their investigation for the time being. The report makes no mention of any other vehicle or person being involved in the accident.
The efforts of Wu’s ultra’s group, the Blue Boys (Lanbao), to raise funds for his medical treatment will continue however at Saturday night’s rearranged game at Hongkou stadium against Chengdu Blades.
