Tonight: Shenhua v Tianjin

martinez%20and%20scott.jpgFollowing their solid opening-day win over Shenzhen last week, (video highlights here) Shanghai Shenhua welcome Tianjin to Hongkou Football Stadium tonight for their second fixture of the 2008 Chinese Super League season.

The start of the football season in China has seen the usual very modest flurry of stories across the English-language media, Goal.com has an interview with Shenhua coach Wu Jinggui by John Duerden, who also wrote a similar piece for The Guardian after attending last week’s opening game in Shanghai and has some interesting comments from a Shenhua fan. Shanghaiist isn’t going to fall into the usual bloggers’ habit of shooting down pieces written by out-of-town journos about things on our doorstep — both are solid pieces and worth a read.

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm — tickets cheap and plentiful as usual.
